Born in Saratoga Springs on May 8, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Irving and Lena Kennedy Grey. She was the loving wife of the late John J. Higgins.
Kathryn was a graduate of Mechanicville High School and the former St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Troy. She later worked as a pediatric nurse. A communicate of All Saints on the Hudson, she was an 80+ year active member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court St. Paul #71. Kathryn was also a member of the Doll Ladies, an organization that she was proud to be a part of. In addition, she enjoyed playing bridge with her lifelong friends for over 40 years.
Sundays were always a special time at Kathryn's house. After mass her family would gather in her small kitchen and enjoy coffee, donuts, cookies and great conversation. It was always filled with laughter and fun. She was blessed with 7 children, 18 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
Survivors include her son John (Patricia) Higgins and daughter Susan (Thomas) Hines. Also survived by her sons-in-law Steven Brzozowski, Guy Amoroso and daughter-in-law Judith Higgins, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband John who died on July 17, 1986, three sons, Edward, Michael and Anthony Higgins, daughters, Mary Beth Brzozowski and Patricia Amoroso, three brothers William, Irving and George Grey and two sisters, Virginia Williams-Sheehan and Elizabeth Snocker-Dicocco.
Calling hours on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at All Saints on the Hudson Church, 121 N Main St, Mechanicville, NY 12118. A Funeral Mass will also be held at the church, on Friday, at 10:30 a.m. with burial to follow alongside her husband in St. Paul's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to All Saints on the Hudson Church, 52 William St, Mechanicville or Mechanicville Community Center Food Pantry, PO Box 30, Mechanicville, NY 12118.
