Elizabeth is the daughter of William Henry & Cora Belle (Printz) Carrier. She married Virgil William Kite on February 29, 1936.


Mrs. Elizabeth Gertrude Carrier Kite, 94, a resident of Shenandoah, died on March 7, 2009, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.

She was born on Nov. 9, 1914, in Rockingham County, and was the daughter of the late Henry and Cora Belle Printz Carrier.

Elizabeth lived the majority of her life in the Shenandoah community and was a graduate of Elkton School. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

On Feb. 29, 1936, she married, Virgil William Kite, who preceded her in death on Sept. 26, 1981.

Elizabeth is survived by four children, Vincent Kite of Shenandoah, Laura Belle Zirkle and husband, John, Dwight Kite and wife, Linda, all of Elkton, Janet Hudson and husband, Lloyd, of Shenandoah; four grandchildren, Roberta Wright and husband, Ricky, David Zirkle and wife, Jennifer, Christopher and Brian Kite, all of Elkton; one great-grandson, Ryan Wright; one sister, Louella Kite of Elkton; and a niece, Joy Pence of Elkton.

The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, at the Lindsey-Kyger Funeral Home in Shenandoah.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 11, at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark Briehl officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Paul Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 6433 U.S. Highway 340, Shenandoah, VA 22849.
