William Murphy Sr., age 83, of Dayton, passed away on April 2, 2022. He was born in Webbville, Kentucky to the late Levi and Arizona Murphy.

He enjoyed canning food and cooking, especially cooking southern food. He canned everything from pickles to green beans to meat. He made a delicious meal of cornbread, soup beans and ham. He loved being a grandpa to his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brothers, Junior, Ray, Bud, and Johnny; sisters, Loretta Allyrae, May, Kathy, and Martha Jane; and his beloved wife of 31 years, Barbara Murphy; three daughters: Cheryl, Debra, and Bobbie Jo; and daughter-in-law, Debra Murphy.

He will be remembered by his sons: Bill Murphy Jr. and Greg (Pam) Murphy; daughters, Tina (Dave) Grider and Roselinda Murphy; sister, Betty Baird; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

A public visitation will be held from 4:00pm to 5:00pm on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at Newcomer North Chapel, Dayton, where the funeral service will begin at 5:00pm. He will be laid to rest with his wife at a later date at Miami Valley Memorial Gardens.
