Christine Ann "Chris" Walker

Christine Ann Walker "Chris" was born September 5, 1947 in Washington D.C to Ida and Wendel Walker. She later moved to Seguin, Texas where she graduated from Seguin High School in 1965. She enrolled as a Plan II major at the University of Texas at Austin. She graduated from the College of Pharmacy at UT in 1970. After graduating she was a pharmacist until she entered medical school. She graduated from The University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio in 1978. After completing her pediatric residency she joined Dr. Jeannine Kaufmann and Dr. Jane Fried to form Northwest Pediatrics. They added new partners and remained together until retirement. Her nurse, Sylvia, remained with her for 28 years. She loved her profession, her patients and their families. She was very intelligent, but what made her special was her personality and bedside manner.

Chris married her husband, Chester Brown, on Valentine's Day in 1997.

Chester brought three sons into the marriage. Love was a two way street with her sons and later her grandchildren. She created a family centric environment and loved going to activities for them. She was their biggest fan. Chis enjoyed a full life that included many activities. She persuaded her husband to broaden his horizons. They backpacked in several mountain ranges, rafted several rivers, went to Spurs games, enjoyed Broadway Across America plays and were regular movie goers. She was a world class scuba diver with dives in far flung areas. She was an avid reader and belonged to two reading groups. She made friends easily and traveled around the world with them. She was a Christian and was a long time member of University United Methodist Church. She gave generously of her time and money to charities. One of her book club members described her as such a positive, kind, non judgmental and loving person.

Chris is survived by her husband, Chester Brown; stepsons Michael Brown, Jeffrey Brown (Kazuyo), and David Brown (Kim). She is survived by six grandchildren; Jeffrey Brown, Jacob Brown, Brian Brown, Maria Montemayor, Augustin Montemayor and Trisha Tillman. She is survived by her sister, Mary Carver, and her children Jennifer Barger, Zachery Carver and Justine Hill. She is survived by nephews Kirk Mounsey (Debbie),,Donnie Mounsey, Brett Mounsey (Kim), Mark Mounsey (Julie), James Lieck, Tim Lieck and niece Lori Mounsey.
