Parthenia was born to Frances Knight Grinder and Joshua Grinder of Stokes, North Carolina in 1798 in Lewis County, Tennessee. She married Thomas Runions in 1815 and they had several children, including Susannah Runions Kincade Collier and Barbara Runions Kincade. She died in 1861 in Lewis County, Tennessee. She and Thomas became strong supporters and members of the Church of Christ and held many meetings on their land during their lifetime. They left their land to the Church of Christ in Lewis County upon Thomas's death. Some of their descendants moved to Arkansas and then moved to Missouri. Joshua Grinder's brother, her uncle, Robert Evans Grinder (Griner), and his family moved to Hickman County, TN after Meriwether Lewis died at Grinder's Stand.
