SULPHUR -- Funeral services for Velma Odella "Della" Smith, 96, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Clagg Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Bill Leveridge officiating. Interment will be in Caddo Cemetery under the direction of Clagg Funeral Home.

Born May 30, 1903, in Matoy, to Dave and Lou Privett Lawson, she died July 17, 1999, in Ardmore.

Mrs. Smith was reared in the Matoy area and had lived in Sulphur since 1947. She had worked as a cook in the Matoy and Sulphur schools for many years. She married Harvey C. Smith on July 20, 1924 in Durant. He preceded her in death on Aug. 28, 1994. She was a Baptist.

Survivors include a daughter, Nela Mae Hull, Oklahoma City; a son, Daniel Eugene Smith, El Paso, Texas; six grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Bearers will be Danny and Lisa Smith, John Ray, Harold, Billy and Rudy Stewart. Honorary bearers are Jeff Albright, A.D. Stewart, Gerry, Ronnie and Gene Hull.

The family will receive visitors from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
