Ricky Paul (Sr.) Sanders
July 27, 1956 ~ March 28, 2022 (age 65)
Ricky Paul Sanders, Sr., 65, of Alanson, Michigan passed on peacefully in the early morning hours on March 28, 2022. He had been battling compilations from diabetes.
Ricky was born on July 27, 1956 to James Perry Sanders and Margaret Helen (Hilliard) Sanders in northern Michigan. He attended a few different schools growing up and graduated from Alanson High School in 1974. After high school he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he met his lifelong friend Daniel Swartz.
After an honorable discharge in 1977 he would make his way back north and in 1982 married Sherry Debeck. They had three sons together, Ricky Jr., David and Justin. After 15 years of marriage they separated but remained good friends.
Ricky was an avid bowler, cribbage player and enjoyed trips to various local casinos, but most of all he was the best dad, friend, and family member one could ask for. He was known as a residential painter for nearly 35 years.
Ricky is survived by his sons, Ricky Sanders, Jr. and his daughter Emmarie Jean Taylor of Petoskey; David (Caroline) Sanders and their son Noah of Fornee, Texas; Justin Sanders and his son Justin, Jr. and two daughters, Kasey Anne and Sarah Sanders. He is also survived by his ex-wife, Sherry; his brother, Arvin (Tammy) Sanders; sisters, Shirley Kiersten and Peggy Barnhill; niece and nephew, Rachelle and Arvin Sanders, Jr.; his lifelong best friend, Dan Swartz, and many other friends and family members as well.
You had a good run, dad. You are no longer in pain. You always did the right thing and were good to everyone you knew. We know you are at peace now. We all love you, dad. Until we meet again.
