Miguel Garcia

Miguel Garcia, Lt. Col. Ret. USAF, 82 years old passed peacefully on March 4, 2022, in San Antonio, Texas.


Miguel Garcia is survived by his siblings, Aurora (Jose H.) de la Rosa of San Antonio, Tx., Luis (Lili) Garcia of Los Fresnos, Tx., Abel Gracia, Maria (Augustin) Perez, Roberto Garcia, Daniel (Frances) Garcia, all from San Benito, Tx., and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents Miguel and Elvira Garcia, wife Dorothy A. Terrell-Garcia, and brother David Garcia.


Miguel was born on July 11, 1939, to Miguel and Elvira Garcia in San Benito, Tx. He attended San Benito High School and graduated in 1957, then attended Texas Southmost College in Brownsville, Tx. He graduated from Texas A&M with a degree as an aeronautical engineer.


He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force from 1966-1977. He flew "The Jolly Green Giant" in search and rescue missions in Viet Nam and also flew the C5 Galaxy on transport missions. He achieved the rank of Captain. Then, he joined the Air Force Reserve finally retiring with a rank of Lt. Col. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4298.


Miguel enjoyed many hobbies, especially automobiles, gun collecting, and hunting. Miguel, Mike as we all knew him, was a kind person who was willing to help others and deeply devoted to his church.


Rosary will be on April 5, 2022 at 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Porter Loring, 1101 McCullough Avenue, San Antonio, Tx.


Funeral Mass will be at 1:00 pm on April 6, 2022 at St. Pius X Church, 3907 Harry Wurzbach, San Antonio, Tx.


Burial to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road, San Antonio, Tx., at 2:15 pm.
