She was preceded in death by husband, Lloyd E. George; mother, Martha Elizabeth Stroud Morrison; father, William Torrey Morrison; five sisters, Jessie Harper, and husband, Alvin, Opal Miller and husband, Woodrow (Woody), Veda Ross, and husband, Willard, Garneeta Cooley, and husband Fred, and Faye Knotts, and husband Ivan; one brother-in-law, Kenneth Hancock; and one sister-in-law, Delores Edens Morrison.
She is survived by two brothers, Dale Morrison, and wife, Vivian, Dean Morrison; two sisters, Georgia Morrison Hancock, and LaVene Morrison Powell, and husband, Robert; two very special nieces, Tanis Robinson and Kindra Cooley.
Fern graduated from Caruth High School. She worked in the bakery and grocery store on the east and south square.
She moved from Kennett at an early age to Michigan. There, she worked in the office of Lane Bryant Clothing Store for many years. Later in life, she cared for children and elderly ladies. She liked living in Berkeley, but loved to come home to Kennett for vacations.
She had three very special visits to Kennett. One was Mom Morrison's 75th birthday. She helped decorate twenty cakes for her open-house birthday party. Another very special time was for Robert and LaVene's wedding in 1977. Ten brothers and sisters were in Kennett for the wedding. Only one sister, Faye, had passed away in 1963, at the age of 33. She was missed very much by everyone. The third very special time in Kennett, was when she came home for the Morrison family reunion in 2000.
Through the years we have missed each and every one of the Morrison family that have passed away. All of them have a special place in our hearts, and Fern will always be remembered in our hearts as "Sweet Fern."
The family plans a graveside service in Memorial Gardens Cemetery at a later date.
