Mrs. Smith was born on Oct. 28, 1931, in Choudrant, La., and lived in Westlake, La., for more than 60 years. She was a graduate of LaGrange High School in Lake Charles, La.

Mrs. Smith began her career as a bookkeeper at Gulf National Bank, where she later became Vice President of Personnel. She was also an active member of Credit Women International for women in credit professions and served as their president from 1979-1980.

Over the years she was a police juror, a bookkeeper, and a floral designer. She also taught floral design through continuing education courses at McNeese State University where she loved helping those interested in learning floral design, whether as a hobby or future career path. Additionally, she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star of Louisiana (Chapter 228 Westlake) for many years. She eventually retired from work at the age of 86 but continued in her service for Christ. She was active in the Faith Walk community where she served in South La., Texarkana, Ark., the Midsouth region, and Central Ala.

Mrs. Smith was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Westlake for 65 years. For 20 years, she faithfully called every member of her church on their birthdays. For the last four years, she was also a member of Faith Baptist Church in Arlington, Tenn.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Rev. David Smith, and wife Rachael of Arlington, Tenn.; her daughter, Shelley May, and husband Andy of Ball Ground, Ga.; her sister, Melba Stine, of Lake Charles, La.; four grandchildren: Andrew (Cassidy) Smith, Kaitlyn (Will) Cryer, Olivia Smith, Grayson May; granddaughter-in-love, Ashley Smith; one great grandson, Jaxon; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, William "Jack" Smith; parents, Gordon and Dollie Honeycutt; brother, Howard Honeycutt; sister, Ollie Boullion; and her grandson, Hayden Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m., Saturday, April 9, 2022, at First Baptist Church in Westlake under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Mrs. Smith's son, Rev. David Smith, will officiate. Visitation will begin at the church on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. and continue until 11:45 a.m. Graveside services will be private for a gathering of family.
