James "Jim" L. Dawson, 81, of Elmwood, passed away at 2:50 p.m., on Friday, April 1, 2022, at Country Comfort in Elmwood.
He was born July 23, 1940, in Peoria County, IL, to Chester and Isabelle (Rushing) Dawson. Jim married Mary McBeth on February 6, 1959, at the Elmwood United Methodist Church's parsonage. She preceded him in death on April 20, 2021.
He is survived by three children, Denise (Ricky) Clark of Lawrenceburg, TN, Kathy (Bob) Hamby of Elmwood, and Mark (Rhonda) Dawson of Farmington; six grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
He is also preceded in death by his parents; one grandson; and one great-granddaughter.
Jim was a Steamfitter for Local #353 for over 50 years. He was also a former volunteer for the Elmwood Fire Department where he served as a Captain for many years. He was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge #363 and an active member of the Elmwood United Methodist Church. He was also a diehard Cubs and Bears fan.
Masonic rites and funeral services will be held at noon, on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at the Elmwood United Methodist Church. A visitation will be held prior to the service, from 10:00 p.m. to 12:00 p.m., at the church. Burial will immediately follow the service at Elmwood Township Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to B.Y.E. Ambulance, Elmwood Fire Department, or the Elmwood United Methodist Church.
