He was born Feb. 15, 1957, in Paris, Ky. He graduated from Anderson High School in 1976.
He worked for Kmart Southdale while still in school. From there he went to work at Kohl's and helped to open the new store located across from the mall.
He was a former member of APOA. Before he was diagnosed with R.S.D. he had learned his private pilot's license. His favorite past time was coaching a girls' softball team and he raised enough money to have lights installed on the field at Cunningham school so the team could play nights.
He was also an enthusiast of NASCAR and the Cincinnati Reds.
He is survived by Lori, his wife of 43 years; son, Shawn (Lindsey) Baker of Fort Wayne; mother, Marian Baker of Anderson; brother, Randall (Rain) Baker of Fort Wayne; two grandchildren, Eli and Emery; and a special niece, Meaghan Mattingly.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ancy J. Baker; mother-in-law, Lois Austin; and her twin sister, Louise Collins.
A memorial for Barry will be held later this month.
