He was third of three children - James (Eleanor) Ramsey of Spokane, Wash., and Beverly (David) Batey in Denison. Ronald was married to Mary Vogel Ramsey from January 1969 until February 1991. After that, he was married to JoAnn McAden Ramsey from June 1997 until her death in October 2021.

Ronald was preceded in death by both his parents, J.M. (1990) and Katie (1998), as well as Mary (2009) and JoAnn (2021).

Ronald had five children with Mary: Lynn (Megan) Ramsey of Winter Garden, Fla.; Jay (Amber) Ramsey of Keller; Randi (Gary) Williams of Cartwright, Okla.; Ryan (Siner) Ramsey of McKinney; and Ross (Angie) Ramsey of Haslet. Marriage with JoAnn brought him two adult children: Greg (Stacy) McAden of Calera, Okla., and David Butcher of Denison. In addition, he leaves behind 19 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He is a 1968 graduate of Denison High School earning all-district honors in baseball. Thereafter he served in the Air Force from 1968 until 1974, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He spent the rest of his working life in railroads, working in several maintenance capacities from cars to locomotives to tie-repair crews for the Missouri-Kansas-Texas and Union Pacific railroads until he retired in 2008. Outside of his Air Force years and a few years in Fort Worth, Ronald lived all his life in Denison.

He played several years in softball leagues after the Air Force, including winning Knights of Columbus softball teams, and taught his children baseball and softball. He coached Pony League baseball for a couple years and was also a Fourth-Degree member of the Knights of Columbus council 830, assisting for several years with their bingo and their charitable activities. Ronald loved playing guitar. He played in a band out of high school and would host jam sessions with family and friends.

Ronald lived by several mottos; work hard, take care of business, and take care of those in need. He passed on his work ethic to his children, teaching them to take care of business. Anyone who knew Ronald also knew he always would help those in need - whether family, friends or a random person whose car was broken down on the side of the highway.
