John Anthony Sanderson

John Sanderson, 71, of Panama City, Florida, formerly of Wilmington, passed away on August 11, 2021.

John was born in 1950 in Wilmington, Delaware to Harold and Adele Sanderson. He was the second oldest of four sons, Frank, Kent, and Tommy.

John grew up in Wilmington and graduated from Thomas McKean High School in 1968. He then went on to a lifelong career with the United States Air Force. John enjoyed traveling and seeing the world during his military career, spending much of his time in Asia. Following honorable discharge from the Air Force, he continued serving his country as a civilian employee, working in contract negotiation as a purchasing agent.

John later moved back to the United States and continued his career in Florida. John always said he settled in Florida so he could be frustrated by his golf game year-round. He loved sports, especially golf, bowling, and the Philadelphia Eagles (not the Cowboys!). He was a devoted father and grandfather. He especially loved spending time with his grandson Ricky.

John was preceded in death by his son Suksan Senakit and brother Frank Sanderson. His parents Harold and Adele and brother Kent passed away a few months after in December 2021 and January 2022. He is survived by his wife Chaweewan; daughter Kampan; grandson Ricky, brother Thomas; nieces Beverly (Bill) Knotts, Amy (Dave) Kohl, and Karin (Leslie) Donovan; and several great-nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service for Harold, Adele, John, and Kent on Saturday April 2, 2022 at Chandler Funeral Home, 7230 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, DE 19707. Visitation will be 9:30-10:30am, with services at 10:30am.
