Roberta M. Dugan peacefully passed away on March 28, 2022. Roberta was born in Lansing, Michigan on November 30, 1927 to Mulfred and Jessie Briggs.

She graduated from J.W. Sexton High School in 1945 and was an integral part of keeping their annual reunions going until 2018. She graduated from St. Lawrence School of Nursing in 1949 and spent most of her career at St. Lawrence Hospital. She rotated through all the departments as a nurse and spent her final 30 years as the Administrative Night Shift Nursing Supervisor. She was affiliated with the American, Michigan, and Capital Area District Nurse Associations and the Greater Lansing Area Supervisors Association.

Roberta's joy of reading led her to volunteer with the WKAR Radio Talking Book program, and to tape books for seniors with vision problems. Music was a big part of her life, and she was selected to perform a violin duet with her music instructor at the Lansing Symphony Orchestra. She loved knitting and made mittens every year for various organizations as part of the RSVP Knitters, Crocheters, and Quilters volunteer group. She was also very accomplished at needlepoint and made numerous pictures and quilt squares for friends and family.

After retirement she enjoyed traveling; especially a cross-country road trip with her sister that allowed them to explore many of the national parks and monuments. Gardening was another passion. She enjoyed celebrating the changing of the seasons with bright, colorful trees, bushes, and flowers. She took immense pleasure in watching the wildlife around her Haslett home; especially the various birds that visited her birdfeeder daily.

She found it extremely rewarding to work with young people and was a class/ parent volunteer at Williamston Middle School, Haslett High School, and Dwight Rich Middle School where she assisted Ms. Benson's students with the school newspaper. Her most memorable gift was her ability to write beautiful poetry. She lovingly shared her talent with friends, family, and co-workers; helping them celebrate holidays and special events by weaving her words into treasured keepsakes.

She was married to Paul Dugan for 35 years and together they had 5 children. Roberta was preceded in death by her parents, Mulfred and Jessie Briggs; her brother, Eugene Briggs; her sister, Vernagene Brandell; her former husband, Paul Dugan; their eldest son, Gary Dugan; and their infant son.

She is survived by her son; daughters; their spouses and extended family; and her best friend and neighbor. She promised to watch over all the people she loved and be our guiding angel.

She will be remembered for her kind heart, gentle nature, strength in adversity, and sense of humor. A family memorial and celebration of life reception will be announced at a future date. Donations in her memory may be made to WKAR, the American Red Cross, the Alzheimer's Association, your local food bank, or local homeless shelter.

She and her family want to say a very special thank you to the wonderful caregivers who surrounded her with love and kindness and enabled her to stay in the home she loved so much. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.greastlansing.com for the Dugan family.
