After Mr. Sowards' (Thomas, Jr.) death, James Ratliff was appointed Legal Guardian of Thos. & Leticia Sowards' children: Susannah, Thomas Jr, Charles & Mahala. Richard Damron was named the Executor of Thomas Sowards' Estate.
The widow Leticia Hall Sowards began a relationship (no record of them being Married) with Peter Ford, son of Constable Joseph Ford & brother of Constable Robert Ford.
Sometime in 1811, Peter was Assaulted by James Ratliff & 3 other men and told to leave the County (probably because of Peter's relationship with Leticia). He filed a lawsuit against them in June 1811.
In August 1812, Robert Ford resigns and brother Peter is appointed as Constable.
Sometime after this, Leticia files to have Mr. Damron removed from his position of Executor due to an Alleged Abuse of that Position. Damron retaliated by charging Peter Ford with Not Serving a Warrant against one Jesse Venters, resulting in Peter's being Removed from Office.
This removal from office occurred in 1813 which was about the time Peter & Letitia had their 2nd child together. Peter evidently takes "the low road" and disappears soon after this, leaving Leticia with 2 more sons to rear. She rears them with the Last Name of Sowards, the same as her other children.
