Carolyn Jean Bray Story
09/11/1948 - 10/18/2021

Carolyn was born in Ashland, OR, and passed on October 18, at the age of 73. She became ill in 2006 with a rare avian allergy resulting in fibrosis of the lungs. This past year she developed complications from a secondary bacterial infection which was resistant to all antibiotics.

She is survived by her husband Clarence Hughel Story of 51 years, daughters: Stacey Knapp (Jonathan), Leah Kortyka (Darrin) and Jaclyn Jensen (Brian). Twin brothers: David and Dennis Bray of Eugene, OR; half-sister, Sharon Walker Dowdle of Twin Falls, ID; and grandchildren: Laura, Colton, Tyler, Cameron, Kaylan and Gavin.

Carolyn was homecoming queen and valedictorian her senior year at Elmira High School. She joined the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority at the U of O her freshman year and made lifelong friends. Recently, she received her 50 year pin. She graduated with a BA in Education and taught elementary school at Triangle Lake. Raising a family and being a mom was very important to her. A Girl Scout leader for many years, she set the bar very high for her family and everyone around her. Carolyn was known for her values and ethics, always having a kind word and never a negative moment.

Besides family, her passion was gardening, crafting and traveling. Her travels included: three tours of Europe and a Mediterranean Cruise, sailing the inland passage to Alaska, two trips to Hawaii, a western and eastern cruise through the Caribbean Islands, Ecuador, Panama, Costa Rica and Cabo San Lucas. She toured Israel with the Eugene Faith Center Church and was baptized in the Jordan River. Carolyn also traveled extensively throughout the U.S. pursuing history, National Parks and historical landmarks; including a month-long trip following the Lewis and Clark trail from Illinois to Oregon.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Greenhill Humane Society or a charity of your choice. She will be laid to rest at Lane Memorial Gardens, 5300 W. 11th Ave, Eugene, OR, November 6 at 10am.

Arrangements entrusted to Lane Memorial Funeral Home.
