Thomas B. Yoder, 86, of Goshen, died Saturday, April 6, 2019, at Elkhart Hospice House.
He was born July 31, 1932 in Middlebury to Samuel T. and Mildred L. (Berry) Yoder.
On January 25, 1975 he married Beverly J. Washburn.
She survives along with six children, Kim (R.D.) Borden of Goshen, Jeff (Stephanie) Yoder of Fort Wayne, Jill (Joe) Welling of Goshen, Terry (Debra) Washburn of Bristol, Ronald (Tina) Washburn of Elkhart and Vicki (Doyle) Holden of Goshen; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and three siblings, Dalis (Walter) Gruger of Canfield, Ohio, Sam Yoder of Elkhart and Phil Yoder of Millersburg.
A 1950 graduate of Middlebury High School, Tom served with the US Army in Korea. He worked as the grocery manager at Everett's, Linway Plaza, from 1971-1977 and as the Garden Center manager from 1991-2003. He wrote a gardening column for The Goshen News for many years.
As a veteran, he was a member of the Goshen DAV and VFW #985 and the Middlebury American Legion Post 210. Tom was a charter member of Maplecrest Country Club and served on the Elkhart County Board of Realtors from 1977 to 1988.
He was a member of Community Church of Waterford.
Visitation will be Saturday, April 13, 2019, from 10 to 12 p.m. and 2 to 4 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 4:30 p.m., funeral service, with military honors, will be conducted. Pastor Chris Russell will officiate.
Cremation will follow the service.
Memorials may be given to Center for Hospice Care.
