The younger sister of Joan Baez, Farina not only recorded albums on her own but also with others, most notably her late husband, Richard Farina. He died in a motorcycle accident 3 years after their marriage on her 21st birthday. Eighteen years after his death she founded Bread & Roses, an organization that produces 500 shows annually at prisons, mental hospitals, and centers for senior citizens and abused and neglected children. There are now more than 15 other community organizations modeled after Bread & Roses across the country.
