He leaves his wife of 41 years, Patricia A. (Phoenix) McNeil; two sons, William D. McNeil and Jeffery J. McNeil; his niece, Michelle, his three nephews, Steven, Brian and Keith; and his sister-in-law, Ginny McNeil. Bill was predeceased by his brothers, Steve and John. He was born in Worcester and grew up in Shrewsbury, son of the late John J. McNeil and Rose (Foisy) McNeil.
Mr. McNeil is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps., serving during the Vietnam War.
Bill worked as a lab technician for 25 years with the former Norton Company in Worcester. He then drove trucks for Euro-American Freight for 10 years, before retiring in 2011.
Bill enjoyed riding his Harley-Davison motorcycle and auto racing as hobbies, and was a fan of NASCAR. He loved to work on anything mechanical, and was able to keep things running almost forever. He kept active by cutting and splitting wood, and also enjoyed ocean fishing trips with his sons and friends.
A Funeral Service for Bill will be held on Friday, December 17, 2021 at 10:00 am in the Pilgrim Baptist Church, 33 West Brookfield Road, in North Brookfield. Burial with Military Honors will be held on Friday, December 17, 2021 at 2:00 pm in the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen St, Winchendon, MA 01475.
