Patricia was my 3rd cousin. She was only a year older than me, but years older in age for the life she lived. She was married at 15 and had bad luck with that marriage. I believe she ended up being married 3 times before taking her life.
She was a very sweet and sort of quiet girl. We used to go check on the cows and feed the work horses. These were part of her chores. We used to take walks after her chores were done, walking the old dirt roads and over wooden bridges where we sit and dangle our feet in the streams and catching our breath before walking on. We didn't chat a lot, but we wrote often until after she got married. I am sorry we didn't keep it up. Maybe I could have helped her in her time of need. I know I will always remember her as we were back when we were so very young.
