Troy- Howard L. Dyer, a Deary native and former Troy resident, died Saturday at Dayton, Wash., where he was employed by a farm supply company. He had been ill several months and death was due to cancer.

Dyer, 52, was the son of Andy and Verna Dyer, born June 23, 1927. He attended school in Troy and later was in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was married to Betty Jo Helbling in 1956. She survives at the Dayton home. Also surviving are one son, Clinton Dyer of Jerome, two step daughters; his mother, Verna Dyer at the Latah Convalescent Center; two brothers, Willard Dyer of Troy and Charles Dyer of Great Falls, a sister, Audrey Hepp of Seattle, and five grandchildren.
