Corporal Lemke, of West Allis, Wisconsin, died in Ibrahim Al Adham, Iraq, of wounds suffered when his vehicle struck an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 4th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Lewis, Washington. Lemke was on his first deployment. Jason graduated in 1996 from Wisconsin Lutheran High School. He worked for a company that made stainless steel kitchen appliances but enlisted some time after his marriage ended in divorce. He joined the Army in Milwaukee in December 2004 and arrived at Fort Lewis the following May after basic training at Fort Benning, Georgia. He had a year of intensive training in Arabic language that left him adept enough to surprise an Arabic-speaking shopkeeper at a local shopping center by striking up a friendship in his own language. His awards include the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on terrorism Service Medal and the Army Service Ribbon. He was the cherished father of Amber, Liz and Casey. Loving son of Colleen and Greg Lemke. Beloved brother of Jerrie Lemke and Jill Lemke. Fond uncle of D.J. Polaske and Kyra Lemke. Devoted grandson of Rosemary Lemke. Special nephew of Scott (Cyd) Lemke, Lynn Lemke, David Lemke, Beth (Matt) Gerbing and Lyn (Cindy) Pierce. Cousin of Melanie (Mike), Robin (John) and Nathan. Further survived by many other relatives and friends. Bio by: Sue
