Funeral Services for Kristi K. (Porch) Thompson age 42, of Wanblee were held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday March 12, 2002 at the City Auditorium in Kadoka with Pastor Gary McCubbin officiating. Kristi died early Friday morning March 8, 2002 at her parents residence in rural Wanblee. Visitation was held at the Rush Funeral Chapel in Kadoka on Monday March 11, 2002 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. Visitation was also one hour before the services at the City Auditorium on Tuesday. Interment was in the Kadoka Cemetery, Kadoka, S.D. A memorial is established. Kristi K. Porch was born June 24, 1959 in Kadoka, South Dakota, the daughter of Stanley and Shirley (Holcomb) Porch. She grew up on a farm-ranch west of Wanblee and attended Wanblee Public School. She graduated from Kadoka High School in 1977. She then attended National College in Rapid City, graduating in 1979. As a young lady, she worked for Prairie States Insurance Company in Rapid City. She was united in marriage to Roddy Thompson on April 25, 1981, in Kadoka, South Dakota. They made their home on a ranch west of Wanblee all their married life. She worked nineteen years with the Postal Service of which she served as postmaster at the Wanblee Post Office the last ten years. She enjoyed spending time with her boys and watching them participate in various sports and rodeos. She was active in rodeo, serving as secretary and being a timer. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband Roddy Thompson of Wanblee; three sons, Travis, Tate, and Ty Thompson, all of Wanblee; her parents, Stanley and Shirley Porch of Wanblee; one brother, Matt Porch and his wife Cheryl and their children, Melissa and Colby of Wanblee; one sister, Kari Porch of Pierre, South Dakota; paternal grandmother, Dorothy Porch of Kadoka; three uncles, Ralph, Boyd, and Roger Porch; three aunts Carol Jeffords, Barbara Toliver, and Patty Groven. Kristi was preceded in death by her grandfather, Cyrus Porch, and her maternal grandparents, Lee and Waneta Holcomb.
