DIANA - Herbert Meshell, 77, of Diana, went to meet his Lord on Sunday, December 9, 2007.

Mr. Meshell was born April 13, 1930, in Negreet, Louisiana, to Abram and Edna Meshell.

Mr. Meshell took pride in his highway and bridge construction work and his self-employment of mowing pipe line right-a-ways. Raising and showing American spotted saddle horses, being a member of Trail Riders Unlimited and the East Texas Walking Horse Association was a favorite pasttime. You could often find "Pawpaw" at his grandkids' and great-grandkids' sporting events.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and three sisters.

Mr. Meshell is survived by his wife of nearly 57 years, Sudie Pearl Meshell; his daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Donald Vickery of Diana; son and daughter-in-law, Herby and Cynthia Meshell of Diana; daughter and son-in-law, Vonnita and Chris Williams of Harleton; nine grandchildren, Susan Vickery, Kella Stanley, Shonda Manes, Vakesa Townson, April Meador, Kyle Meshell, Shavon Easterling, Carl Townson and Vatrina Garrett; 16 great-grandchildren; his sister and brother-in-law, Corine and Sam Savage; his sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Bud Galespie; his brother and sister-in-law, Dave and Carol Meshell; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 12, 2007, at First Baptist Church in Diana, with the Reverend Gary May and the Reverend Earl Taylor officiating. Interment will be in Reed Cemetery of Diana.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Jones, Erwin Smith, Harold Rogers, Harold Horn, Wade Beckham and Jerry Wayne Smith.
