Larry Porter, 79, passed away Sunday, March 27, 2022 at Bethel Pointe Muncie, Indiana following an extended illness.

He was born on February 16, 1943 in Muncie, the son of John and Wilma (Davidson) Porter.

Larry graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1961 and later worked in the grinding department at Borg Warner Automotive (formerly Warner Gear) for 35 years.

He married Sharon Kelso on July 21, 1968 and she survives.

He enjoyed collecting 1950 memorabilia from restaurants in that time period, he was a member of the Industry United Methodist Church, where he sang in the Choir, Union local #287, and enjoyed bowling for his church and other mixed leagues. His collection of memorabilia was used at the Church Centennial celebration in September of 2001.

Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years Sharon Porter, son, Charles (Lana) Porter, daughter; Tammy (fiancée Rodney Ridge) Rhoad; grandchildren Trevor Rhoad, Sydnie Porter, Abby Rhoad, Gavin Porter, MacKenzie Dowd, Bradley Hann, Ryan Hann; sister Kathy Porter, sister-in-law Mardi Porter, and several nieces and nephews and extended family members who will miss him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Gary Porter.

Services will be held at Parson Mortuary and Cremation Center on Saturday April 2, 2022 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Steve Graves officiating. Friends may call at the Funeral home from 11:00 am until the time of the service.

Burial will follow at Elm Ridge Cemetery.
