Joan Crawford Thomas, affectionately known as "Baba," passed away peacefully at her home in Richmond, Virginia, surrounded by her family on March 26, 2022. Joan was born in Ebensburg, PA in 1936. She received her RN from Conemaugh Valley Hospital and The University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. Joan worked as an emergency room nurse at Conemaugh Hospital where she met a very handsome and persistent resident, who would later become her husband. She had a rich, full life, devoting most of it to her faith and being an adoring wife to her husband, loving mother to her five children, and spoiling her 12 grandchildren. Not only did she spend her time as the matriarch of her close-knit family, she also had a wide variety of different types of interests. She worked in her husband's surgical office, she was in charge of advertising at a local radio station, and she implemented OSHA regulations for hospitals. Working at The Carousel, a children's boutique in Williamsburg, VA; however, was one of her greatest joys. Joan loved life to the fullest, and she made every person feel unique and special. She will be greatly missed by everyone whose life she touched, which is many. She is survived her husband, Terrence J. Thomas, M.D.; children: Kathryn Rust and husband Dana; Terrence J. Thomas, Jr. and wife Paula; Sean Thomas; Erin Gorman and husband Mike; and Colleen Savino and husband David; grandchildren: Hannah, Connor, Ian, Sophie Joan, Lauren, Joseph, Grace, Ella, Noah, Oscar, Audrey, and Molly Kate; brother: Thomas Philbrick; and sister: Denise Sanders, and by many other loving family members. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at Price Funeral Service, Meyersdale. Funeral Mass will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at SS. Philip and James Catholic Church, Meyersdale, with the Very Reverend Alan Thomas. Committal SS. Philip and James Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Wounded Warrior Project. Price Funeral Service, Inc., Meyersdale is honored to serve the Thomas family.
