THOMAS MASTERSON DIES HERE AT AGE 83

Early Day Resident of Sedgwick County Passes After Long Illness

Thomas Masterson, 83, who first came to Sedgwick County in 1871, died Saturday at his home, 520 South Glenn, after a lingering illness.

Mr. Masterson was born near Fairbury, Ill. He came to Kansas with his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Masterson, and lived with them on a farm near Sunnydale. In 1894 he moved to Fort Scott and while there served as county assessor. He moved to Wichita in 1931. He is a member of the S.B.A. at Fort Scott.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, three daughters, May Masterson, at home, a teacher at Allison school until her health failed, Mrs. Marguerite Dixon, and Mrs. Cora Land, both of Fort Scott; two sons, Thomas S., Dallas, Tex., and C. B., Rockaway Beach Mo.; two nieces, Edna and Nell Cairns, 718 North Market and 11 grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements will be completed today and announced by Flanagan-Bourman mortuary.
