MAYVILLE — Michael Charles Hudson, 53, of Mayville, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 25, 2022, at his home of natural causes.

He was born May 2, 1968, in Jamestown, N.Y., the son of the late Charles Hudson Jr. and JoAnne Bentley Hudson.

Mike was a 1986 graduate of Chautauqua Central School. He then worked as a plumber for Klinginsmith Plumbing and Heating, the Chautauqua Institution Utility District, and King's Heating and Sheet Metal in Falconer.

He was a member of the Local 22 Plumber's/Steam Fitters, the Loyal Order of the Moose in Westfield, the Westfield American Legion Post 327, and was a proud member of the Farkle Group.

Mike enjoyed working, classic cars, nature, fishing, playing Farkle at the Moose, listening to classic rock, telling classic dad jokes, working his small sawmill, and his dogs. Most of all he loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Hoeft Hudson, whom he married July 2, 2021, in Stedman, N.Y., at the Chautauqua Barn; his five children; Chris (Erica) Hoeft of Erie, Pa., Allyson Pike of Pittsburgh, Pa., Danielle (Tremayne Green) Hudson of Jamestown, N.Y., Nick (Bernadette Smith) Hudson of Ashville, N.Y., and Liz (Coltyn Gardener) Hudson of Edinboro, Pa., six grandchildren: Gianna, Nicholas, Trey, Kalli, Emilyn, and Jameson; three sisters: Laura (Bryan) Stevens of Ashville, N.Y., Shelly (Ron) Alford of Mayville, N.Y., and Linda Nelson of Mayville, N.Y.; nephews: Craig (Amanda), Kory (Brianna), Joel (Cassie) and Morgan; nieces: Amanda (Robert), Kristen, Brittany, and Natalie; his mother-in-law; Marian Hoeft of Mayville, N.Y.; sister-in-law, Cheryl (Karl) Gatto of Westfield, N.Y.; three brothers-in-law: Steve Hoeft of NH, Gary (Lori) Hoeft of Binghamton, N.Y., and Bob (Therese) Hoeft of Clifton, Va.; his two dogs: Nacho and Rascal; and many great-nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Hudson Jr. and JoAnne Bentley Hudson.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville (139 S. Erie St). The Rev Mark Teets will officiate. Burial will be in the Open Meadows Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, April 1, 2022, and for one hour prior to the funeral (10-11a.m.) on Saturday.
