Amey Viola (Richmond) Hubbs Hickson, age 98 of Hillsboro, passed away peacefully Friday March 25, 2022 at the Laurels of Hillsboro. She was born August 8, 1923 in Whitley County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late James Lloyd and Carrie Mae (Smith) Richmond. She was a member of the Midland Baptist Church, worked for many years at the G.C. Murphy Co. store in Hillsboro, and retired from Highland District Hospital. Amey is survived by a son, four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; a brother, a daughter-in-law, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Winford M. Hubbs, on June 9, 1979; her second husband, Andrew J. Hickson, on February 21, 2008; a son, Bijah W. "Rusty" Hubbs; a daughter, Sue N. Schirmer; a daughter-in-law, Ruth A. Hubbs; a son-in-law, Charles Schirmer; a granddaughter, Tammie Sue (Schirmer) Preston; eight sisters; and five brothers. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday March 31, 2022 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Rev. Tom Zile will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hamer Township Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday.
