Donna Mae McCloud

Donna Mae (Brown) McCloud, 89, of Concord, died Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Harris Hill Center in Concord surrounded by her loving family.

Donna was born in Stevenville [sic], Texas, August 30, 1921, the daughter of Vernon and Lela (Morrison) Brown. She graduated from Sulphur Springs High School in Texas and lived and worked in Fort Worth, Texas, for many years before relocating to Seattle, Wash., where she lived until she and her husband retired. She spent her last years in New Hampshire.

Donna was a strong woman, a wonderful mother, and a faithful Christian who read the bible daily. She never met a stranger and always had a smile for everyone. She was an avid amateur photographer. She had a collection of cookbooks numbering over 400. She loved Fritos, iced tea, and John Wayne movies, and she celebrated her 85th birthday by riding a horse. Donna was never the type to complain, when asked how she was, her answer was always, "I'm fine. Pretty good for an old lady." Donna's was a life well lived, but of all the things in it later on, she loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren the most.

Donna is survived by her son, Jack Mills and his wife Brenda of Washington; her daughter, Sarah Garrett of Texas; her daughter, Teresa and her husband Cary Gladstone of New Hampshire; her sister, Ruth Weaver of Texas; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Merle McCloud; her son, Kenny Roy McCloud; three sisters, and one brother.

An hour of memorial gathering will be held Monday, June 13, from 5 to 6 p.m. at The Cremation Society of New Hampshire, 172 King Street in Boscawen followed immediately by a memorial service.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations in Donna's memory be made to American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes, org or the National Kidney Foundation at www.kidney.org.

The Cremation Society of New Hampshire is assisting the family with arrangements.
