Phyllis Jean Hill, age 83 of Marion, passed away at home on Sunday, March 27, 2022 surrounded by her loving family.

Phyllis was born at home on May 19, 1938 in Greencamp, the daughter of Simon A. and Lois Louise (Lindley) Baker. She was a 1956 graduate of Butler High School. On September 14, 1958 she was united in marriage to Robert "Bob" Allen Hill at the Caledonia United Methodist Church and have celebrated 63 ½ years of marriage.

Phyllis had worked at Marion Power Shovel, serving as a secretary and put together the Shovel newspaper. She continued her secretarial role serving at RHAM for a number of years.

Bob's work took the family to Iowa where they lived for 13 years. It was there that Phyllis became known as "The Pumpkin Roll Lady". Her famous pumpkin roles became family traditions for many throughout Iowa. Phyllis had a zest for life and lived it to the fullest. She knew the power of relationships and valued the fellowship of being with others. She had a way of making everyone feel valued and special either by a handwritten card, a phone call or the weekly meeting of their small group at church known as the "Sweet & Sassy". Music held a special place in her heart and over the years was involved with directing youth church choirs. She was a force of nature and had seemingly endless energy to always being doing for others. She had a fondness for the outdoors and enjoyed many camping trips. Above all, family is what she valued most and one of her proudest titles was that of Grandma. She loved deeply and was always up-to-date on all her grandchildren's activities.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Robert "Bob" Allen Hill; children: Michelle (Jerry) Wilson, Christopher "Chris" (fiancé Tracey) Hill, and Renee (Mitch) Cassell; grandchildren: Lee Gafkjen, Mia (Larry) Smith, Chelsea (Tony) Lamping, Alysse (Dante) Schwebel, Zack Hill, Taylor (Brandon) Pfeiffer, Brooke Hill, Ethan Cassell, and Ashley (Chad) Prisen; great grandchildren: Sidney, Kinzie, Deacon, Beau, Lindley, Ava, Brantley, Brooks, Miyah, Beckett, Sawyer, and Rowan; also surviving is her brother Lowell (Annie) Baker; nieces and nephews: Amy (Ed) Vaflor, Tom (Angie) Hill, Gina Baker and Ken (Penny) Baker and 30 foster grandchildren.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents and grandson, Alex Wilson.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at Family Life Church, 2209 Marion-Waldo Rd, Marion from 1PM to 3pm; funeral service will follow at 3pm with Pastor Tom Toney officiating; burial will be in Caledonia Cemetery.
