Obituary
Tony Lee Byers, 63, of Osawatomie, Kansas, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Neodesha in the Wilson Medical Center.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, March 27, 2022 at Dengel & Son Mortuary, 305 N. Pearl St., Paola, KS, 66071. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 28, 2022 at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, 301 E. Miami St., Paola. Burial will be in the Paola Cemetery with military honors.

Tony was born Thursday, July 10, 1958, in New Madrid, MO, the son of Birt and Eva (Morris) Byers. He grew up in Paola and graduated from Paola High School in 1977. While in high school, Tony ran track, lettering all four years.

Tony served his country in the United States Army. He entered the Army on August 30, 1977 at Kansas City, Missouri and was honorably discharged August 27, 1980 at Fort Dix, New Jersey.

He was married to Anna Lee and they became the parents of one son Christopher. Their marriage ended in divorce.

Tony was united in marriage to Tonya Leapheart on June 6, 2014, in Paola.

He worked as a carpenter for many years.

He enjoyed fishing at Miola Lake and cruising.

He was preceded in death by his parents Birt and Eva Jewell (Morris) Byers and seven siblings.

Survivors include his wife Tonya of the home; his children Christopher Byers of Germany, Aleah, Reanna, Awnesty, and Kardell Byers of the home; two brothers Bob Byers of Lawrence and Rick Byers (Kelly) of Olathe; three sisters Betty Jo Yilla (Abraham) of Sierra Leone, Africa, Carol L Bell of Decatur, IL and Ella L. Lane (Gary) of Kansas City, Kansas; many other relatives and friends.
