At the young age of 16, he attended Auction School in Ft. Smith, Arkansas and began his auction career. Vernon ultimately followed his passion of the Auction and Real Estate business establishing Markwell Auction and Real Estate, Meeker, Ok.
Vernon was a member of the Church of Christ for 75 years and served as a deacon and an elder at the 10th and Shawnee St Church of Christ and Aydelotte Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Tommy Gail, an infant son, Larry Markwell, his parents, Harve and Zeffie Markwell, brothers, Elvan, Ernest and Harvey Markwell and sister, Lola Grubaugh.
A Funeral Ceremony for Vernon was held Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at Aydelotte Church of Christ, Shawnee, OK. Those assisting with ceremony include: Harold Gibson, Dale Markwell, Mike Wood and Terry Newell.
