Susan Elaine Joseph passed away Friday, March 25, 2022, at home surrounded by her family and beloved cat, Chispa. She was 76. She was born January 28, 1946, at St David's Hospital.
Susan was the granddaughter of pioneer Lebanese immigrants, Cater and Nora Joseph, and the youngest daughter of Philip Lawrence and Mary Younes Joseph. She completed the household of four busy sisters, and was a true Austinite, through and through.
She attended St Austin Catholic School, O. Henry Junior High School and graduated from Austin High School in 1964. She attended Incarnate Word College and graduated from the University of Texas, receiving her degree in Nutrition. She taught in the Austin Independent School District before working at Seton Hospital as their registered dietician for ten years.
She loved to cook and bake for her family. Wonderful aromas always wafted through the house. Indulging her love of food, Susan opened a catering business from home. She will always be remembered for her impeccable desserts, banana and strawberry pies to name a few. She loved taking care of her yard, and countless plants enjoyed her attention throughout the years.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Norma J. Lynch and Phyllis J. Massad.
She is survived by her sister, Janice J. Hogarty, her nieces Laura Hogarty Augsburger, Melissa Hogarty Daywood, Marianna Massad Alter, and her nephews Phillip Michael Massad, William David Lynch, Matthew Lee Massad, and John Joseph Lynch.
Visitation for Susan will be held Thursday, March 31, 2022 at 10:00 AM followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM at Weed Corley Fish Funeral Homes located at 5416 Parkcrest Drive, Austin, Texas 78731. A graveside service will occur Thursday, March 31, 2022 at 12:00 PM at Assumption Cemetery, 3650 S I-35 Frontage Road, Austin, Texas 78704.
