Bernice Yates Jones, of Los Angeles, California, passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2022. She on was born on March 16, 1935 in Cromwell Alabama to parents, Jasper Yates and Mabis Ezell Yates.
Bernice accepted Christ as her Savior at a very early age with the Shiloh C.M.E. Church in Lisman Alabama. She completed her education at Choctaw County Training High School in Lisman, Alabama. After finishing school, she married Quincey Venuard Jones. They had a son Otto, born in December 1954. In 1958 Bernice decided to leave Alabama to start a new life in Los Angeles, California. She met Willie (Bill) Black, whom she later married.
Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Willie (Bill) Black, son, Otto Jones, parents, Jasper Yates and Mabis Ezell Yates, sister, Ella B Yates. Survivors include her grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Shiloh CME Church, 7656 County Road 9, Lisman, Alabama 36912. Interment followed at Shiloh CME Church Cemetery, 7656 County Road 9, Lisman, Alabama 36912.
