Robert J. Barrett, 95, died at Greenwich Farms in Warwick on March 25, 2022, exactly 16 years after the death of his beloved wife of 54 years, Barbara L (DuCharme) Barrett. Bob formerly resided on Union Avenue in Warwick.

Born in West Warwick, RI, he was the son of John J. and Eva M. (Bouchard) Barrett.

Bob was a graduate of LaSalle Academy and served in the US Navy following his graduation. He retired from the City of Warwick as the Director of Civil Defense/ Emergency Management. He had previously served as the city's Director of Waterfront and Parks and he had also owned 1776 House, a quality furniture store.

Bob enjoyed walking, golfing, playing in the Warwick Police Department golf league, watching golf, the Red Sox and the Patriots, and yard work. On summer evenings he and his neighbors met to sit in the driveway and debate and solve the world's problems. He was a proud lifelong Democrat and a devoted Catholic.

More than anything else, he enjoyed spending time with his family. His greatest joys were holiday gatherings, summer cookouts, and watching his children's and grandchildren's sporting, music, dance and theater events.

His immediate survivors are his five children. They are Joan Barrett Fuller (Peter) and Jane Carosi (Bill), both of Warwick, Judy Barrett of Cromwell, CT, Bob Barrett (Michelle) also of Warwick, and Michael Barrett (Christine) of Niantic, CT. He also leaves his six cherished grandchildren and their families. He was Gramps to Christopher Carosi (Kristi) of Franklin, MA and their children Jack, Will and Anna, Michael Carosi (Amy) of Warwick, RI and their children Hadley and Ben, Peter Fuller (Katie) of Ridley Park, PA, Kate Barrett and Elizabeth Barrett, both of Warwick, and Carly Barrett of West Hartford, CT. In addition he is survived by many nieces and nephews who cherished their Uncle Bob.

He was pre-deceased by his brothers John J. Barrett, Dr. Joseph T. Barrett, and Paul F. Barrett, and his sisters Madeline S. Goldener and Margaret M. Cimini.

Calling hours were held on Tuesday evening March 29th, at Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick, RI . His funeral will be held Wednesday from the Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Kevin's Church, 333 Sandy Lane, Warwick, RI. Burial followed at St Joseph's Cemetery, West Greenwich, RI.

Bob's family thanks the staffs of Greenwich Farms and Beacon Hospice for their generous and compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude's Place, Memphis,TN 38105.
