Diane Higgins Dryden passed away March 22, 2022, with loved ones at her side. She was born on February 1, 1941, in Dallas, Texas, to Hazen and Michael Franklin Higgins. She was a graduate of Highland Park High School and The University of Texas. As a child, Diane led a rather glamorous life following her father as a professional baseball player from town to town, watching him play and manage each summer. In 1962, Diane married a test pilot whom she followed from base to base. Everywhere she went, she left it a little better than she found it through her compassion for others and her dedication toward volunteerism.
In 1984, Diane and Joe Bill settled in Fort Worth, where she dedicated the remainder of her life to improving her community and serving others.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Bill Dryden.
Diane is survived by her daughter, Debbie Ellithorpe, and her husband, Bobby; son, Joe, and his wife, Crystal; grandchildren, Meredith Covington and husband, Chad, Alex Ellithorpe, Candice McCoy and husband, Oren, Betsy Ellithorpe, and Madison Dryden; great-grandchildren, Amelia McCoy, Monty, and Opal Covington; and her brother-in-law, Scott Robson.
Visitation with the family: 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 31, 2022 at Thompson's Harveson & Cole.
Graveside Service: 11 a.m. Friday, April 1, 2022 at Greenwood Memorial Park.
