His childhood was spent in London during the time of WWII going on to study and earn his Engineering Degree from the Mechanical University of Warwick. After moving to the United States in 1966, he began his distinguished career as a Metallurgical Specialist retiring in 1996 after many years with Black & Decker. He and Brenda then settled to Lockwood Folly, NC where they enjoyed their early retirement years golfing, being active with their community and the Catholic Church. Their lives led them to Scotia Village in 2017 where David continued his passion of playing golf, being an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church and involved with the Scotia community. He also enjoyed painting, making hand crafted furniture, growing vegetables and was considered a Certified Master Gardner.
David passed away at the age of 75 on March 18, 2022. A true devoted and loving family man who will forever be missed.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Lesey Mills of the home; son, Thomas "Tom" Mills of Raleigh, NC and daughter, Helen Hughes (Richard) of Essex, UK; sister, Barbara Mills of Southampton, UK; and his grandchildren, Georgia Hughes, William Hughes, Avery Mills, Amelia Mills.
The Memorial Mass Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at the St. Mary Catholic Church with Interment following in Hillside Memorial Park. The family will receive friends following the service at graveside.
