Arthur T. Reynolds, 65, long time Amherst banker, died at his home in Amherst about 7:45 o'clock Wednesday night, supposedly of a heart attack. He had been working at the bank during the day, returning home about 6 o'clock.
Going to the basement to care for the furnace, he was stricken, called for help, then insisted upon walking up stairs to a chair where he died before a physician could arrive.

The body was brought to the Anderson funeral home here, but rites had not been arranged today.
Mr. Reynolds was born in Madison county, Feb. 8, 1877, attended a sod school in that county, Madison high school, the Fremont normal in 1895-6, and the Peru State Teachers college in 1897.

He was married April 27, 1916, in Omaha, to Emma Walther, who survives. He also leaves two daughter, Betty Lou of the home and Mrs. H.L. Ahrendts, nee Norma Emma, of Superior, and a brother, Leonard W. of Lincoln.

Mr. Reynolds taught near Leigh in 1897-99, from 1899 to 1901 was organizer of insurance and fraternal lodges for the American Order of Protection, Lincoln, in Colorado, Nebraska, Montana and Wyoming; from 1902 to 1903 was with U.A. Dann's Farmers State bank of North Loup.

From 1903 to 1908 he was organizer, operator and cashier of the First Farmers State bank of Amherst. In 1908 the bank was converted into the First National Bank of Amherst and he remained its cashier until his death.

He was also interested in insurance, real estate, farm management and administration of estates, had been a member of the Nebraska Bankers Association for more than 30 years, was a member of the American Bankers association, the Kearney Elks lodge, and at the time of his death was president of the Amherst board of education. His hobby was automobile trips.
