Susan met her husband to be on a blind date and married William Austin Lape on October 30, 1953 at the Freeland Methodist Church. They had almost 59 years together before he passed on October 1, 2012.
Susan was a busy mother— church nursery, Bible School, Girl Scouts. In about 1969 when William took over the family business, Roy T. Lape Plumbing & Heating, Susan answered the business phone. During this time, she taught cake decorating and made many cakes and wedding cakes. She was also active in East Ashman Church of God (aka Eagle Ridge Church of God), the Women's Missionary Society, Midland Quiltmakers, Central Michigan Old Car Club, Script A Model A Club and Touring Cars of the Past.
William & Susan traveled all over the country in their 1930 Model A including the Arctic Circle, Seattle, WA, climbed Pike's Peak, Ashville, NC and many places in between.
Susan is predeceased by her husband William, grandson Nathan Alan Glesner, her parents Joseph & Doris Bauder; siblings Richard (Lynn) Bauder; Robert Bauder; Sandra Campbell Smith (Robert Campbell & Charles Smith)
Burial will take place at Midland Memorial Gardens .
