James Clifford Weaver, 82, of Arley, Alabama, sailed into the arms of Jesus, free of pain, on March 24, 2022, at home surrounded by his family.

He was born in Fairfield, Alabama and in his younger years lived in Pleasant Grove and attended Hueytown High School.

Clifford was predeceased by his wife Judy Fay Storey Weaver (1943-2005), his son James Edward "Eddie" Weaver (1961-1983), his daughter-in-law Corrina L. Weaver, parents Jim (1917-1992) and Tommie Justice Weaver (1918-2008) and brother-in-law Jimmy Storey.

Left to cherish his memory are two sons, three grandsons and three great grandchildren, and his sister.

Clifford is a Vietnam Veteran, and served aboard the U.S.S. Intrepid during the Vietnam War. He retired from the U.S. Navy in 1980 as a Chief Petty Officer.

He was a long-time employee of Law Engineering (later known as MACTAC Engineering) where he was a principal technician responsible for certification of its other technicians.

He performed quality control and assurance on many high-profile projects such as the Epcot Center in Orlando, The Federal Reserve Bank in Birmingham and the new San Francisco/Oakland Bridge and areas of U.S. Steel Fairfield Works. He also worked on many projects overseas.

Clifford enjoyed rebuilding vintage cars and showing them at various shows across the southeast. He won many trophies, awards & accolades with his copper colored truck, and other cars. He was honored to help other veterans and to be a part of VFW Post 4850 in Jasper. He enjoyed visiting with his friends at the Arley Coffee Shop and Chef Troy's.

Funeral services will be held on March 28, 2022 at Blooming Grove Church, Jasper, Alabama at 11:00 AM with visitation preceding the service at 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM. Clifford will be buried next to Judy Fay, the love of his life, in Forest Grove Cemetery, Pleasant Grove, Alabama at 2:00 PM. The family is grateful for the very professional and kind services extended to them by Patterson Funeral Home now and to each of our loved ones in past years.

We would also like to thank Comfort Care of Decatur for their special care of Clifford during this difficult time.
