Mrs. Olivia H. Murphy, age 93, of Newnan, formerly of Forest Park, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2007 at Southwest Christian Care. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Brenard Murphy. She is survived by her son, Jerry Murphy of Forest Park, formerly of Fayetteville; her daughter Donna Mullenix of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and four grandsons.
Mrs. Murphy was a beloved member of the Wesley Woods community in Newnan and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The oldest of seven children, she was the mainstay of her large family and dearly loved.
As a homemaker and mother, she was very active in the Forest Park community, serving in numerous roles including PTA president, Girl and Boy Scout leader, Sunday school teacher and choir member. Her cheerful, caring attitude brought sunshine to all who knew her.
Services will be held on Friday, Oct 5 at 11AM at Philadelphia Presbyterian Church in Forest Park. Dr. Spencer R. Frye, Rev. Harry Barrow and Chaplain Sharon Edgar will officiate. Interment Sherwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6-8PM on Thurs, Oct 4 at Ford-Stewart Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Southwest Christian Care, 7225 Lester Road, Union City, GA. Ford-Stewart Funeral Home, Inc, Jonesboro/Stockbridge.
