She was a lifelong member of Harmony Baptist Church where she was member of the Young at Heart, the Fidelis Sunday Class and the WMU. She instilled her devout Christian faith to many young children through the years as a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School Teacher. Throughout her entire life she allowed her Christian faith to be a model to all both young and old. She cared for and nurtured many children over the years in her home and in later years became affectionately known as Maw Maw Dot to all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as many other children in the community. Dot had a great love for homemaking and loved to cook. Until the very end of her life she was still cooking and entertaining her family. She always warmly opened her home to all and loved sharing what she had with others. One of her food specialties was her homemade biscuits that could be ranked among some of the best in the country.
