Joseph K. Davis, age 93, passed away peacefully, Monday, March 21, 2022, at his home in Fort Collins, CO. Born in Cleveland County on February 17, 1929, he was the son of the late Lamar Davis and Loujesta Borders Davis. In addition to his parents, Joe is preceded in death by his brother Don Davis, sister Lois Anthony, and his son Joey Davis.

Joe attended NC State University, where he graduated with a BS in Poultry Science. He was the owner and operator of a poultry business in Cleveland County and his research helped to develop a breed of brown egg laying chickens known as "The Davis Sexlink". Joe's success allowed him to sell his baby chicks worldwide. He served as Vice President and President of the NC Egg Marketing Association.

Joe was a lifelong fan of NC State basketball, enjoyed boating, water skiing, trout fishing and elk hunting, especially in Colorado. He was a quiet leader with a bright mind who loved his family most of all. He will be greatly missed.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 70 plus years, Lyndal Roberts Davis, of the home, daughter Karan Israel of Highlands Ranch, CO, a sister Johnnie Mae Sherwood of Vero Beach, FL, two grandsons Wes Israel of Denver, CO and Alex Israel of Highlands Ranch, CO. Joe is also survived by his 3 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 11 am, Saturday April 2, 2022 at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Russ Bradley officiating. The family will receive friends Friday April 1, from 5:00 PM - 6:30 PM at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home of Shelby, NC.
