The following information was located on page 849 in a book called; History of Yuba and Sutter Counties California with Biographical Sketches, history by Peter J Delay, which is owned and in the possession of my family.
Cassius Fredrick Boardman was born in Westfield Connecticut on June 23, 1846. He was the son of William and Electa (Ward) Boardman, both natives of Connecticut.He comes from a fine old American family and proved to be a progressive rancher when he and his wife and newborn son settled in California in 1866. In 1864 Cassius married Mary Moore a native of New York, on their move to California their first son, William was born while on the ship sailing into the San Francisco Bay. The family, which consist of seven children, settled in the Linda Township, Yuba County area and then the West Bear River area of Yuba County. Cassius and Mary also raised three of their grandchild when their daughter Alice and her husband both died while the children were young. Cassius was a board member of the Erle Center of the Yuba County Farm Bureau, and was also for some thirty years the correspondent for the Department of Agriculture at Washington. He was a man who took an interest in many local affair
