HALTOM CITY - David Scott Barnes passed away Dec. 18, 2021, in his home after a short battle with cancer. His family was with him in his final moments.

David was raised in Azle, Texas and moved to Haltom City, Texas to start a family after he married Judy Austin in 1963.

David spent 45 years of his working life in building/plant maintenance at the Fort Worth Star Telegram where he eventually moved up to the role of Maintenance Supervisor. He was an integral part of the team responsible for keeping the printing presses operating smoothly. At times, he even worked a second job to support his family. He retired in 2009.

David enjoyed the outdoors and working with his hands. He loved fishing and was passionate about working on cars and riding motorcycles. He even won a couple of local fishing tournaments. He followed sports, particularly auto racing and football. In his later years, he kept busy repairing boat motors for friends. He was generous with his time and always willing to lend a hand.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ora and Vera; sister, Shirley; and brothers, Bert and Gordon.
