Mary Ellen Stapleton, 79, of Ironton, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at Kings Daughters Medical Center, Ashland, Kentucky. Mrs. Stapleton was born June 1, 1942 in Ironton, Ohio; a daughter to the late George P and Eva (Sammons) Sharp. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Stapleton.
Mrs. Stapleton was a graduate of Ironton High School and a homemaker. She was a member of the Ironton Moose Club.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Ann Lane and three brothers Ray Sharp, John Sharp and James Sharp.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Earnest (Mary Beth) Stapleton of Ironton; brother, Joe Sharp of Ironton; niece, Mary Dillon of Ironton; three grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, friends and family that will miss her.
Memorial service will be 2:00pm, Thursday, March 31, 2022 at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 South 7th Street, Ironton, Ohio with Rev.Jeff Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow in Sugar Creek Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be 1:00pm until time of the service at the funeral home.
