Jesse Wright Rose, son of Alexander Rose, U.E. Loyalist, was elected to the Legislature for Dundas County in 1851, defeating John P. Crysler. Jesse was a Liberal who was a descendent of one of the first settlers and belonged to one of the most prominent families in Williamsburg. He married Delila Shaver, one of the daughters of Peter Shaver, a former member, and had a large family connection. He was a fluent speaker, was a very good progressive farmer, and as one writer said, "was the hope and pride of his political friends in the County".
Jesse died 18 July 1871 age 63, and was at that time serving as a Stipendiary Magistrate and Registrar.
