Peggy Ione Griffin, age 93, of Elkton, FL, passed away June 6, 2021. The United Methodist Church was an important part of her life growing up in Hastings. Peggy (Davis), the 1946 Hastings Potato Queen, married Kenny Griffin and moved to Elkton where she lived for 74 years. Peggy was a beloved wife, helpmate, mother, grandmother and friend. She and her husband enjoyed 67 years together farming, traveling, golfing, dancing and fishing. They spent 22 summers fishing in Alaska and even more winters in Lake Okeechobee.
Visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. and funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 11 will be held at Craig Funeral Home Chapel, St. Augustine. Burial will be in Craig Memorial Park. Family and friends are invited to a reception at Oakbrook Community Clubhouse following the services and burial.
Peggy is survived by her son, Kenneth Doyle Griffin (Mary), St. Augustine; daughters, Debra Doan (Dan), Sorrento, FL, Dana Griffin, Elkton, and Deidra Thornton (Dean), San Antonio, TX; nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
